Wrote about this book and wild ride that was creating it on the blog today. Suffice is to say, making recipes for a cookbook during a global pandemic wasn’t what I thought it would be. But I hope this book is what I’ve always wanted it to be: a kind, inviting, not-Type-A approach to meal prep.

You don’t have to think of yourself as a meal prep person to enjoy this food. Maybe you want to meal prep more often, maybe you don’t—it doesn’t really matter. None of the recipes need to be made ahead of time.

If you want to eat more homemade food but just can’t seem to make it happen, I see you. I can’t get myself to cook during the week, either. It’s why I meal prep and why I wrote the book. It outlines the flexible strategies that I use to plan, shop, and cook on weekends so that I can reheat wholesome, tasty vegan lunches and dinners all week long.

Meal prep won’t solve all of your problems. It won’t make you a more impressive or organized person. Much as I’d like to assure you that it makes cooking itself easier, it doesn’t. What it does is give you homemade food on the daily. And that’s an act of love, a gift you give your future self, whether it feels that way in the moment or not.

    There’s so much that I could say today. I could There’s so much that I could say today. I could focus on my gratitude without acknowledging that this birthday is a struggle. I could dwell on my melancholy without mentioning how glad I am to be living. All of it would be true, none of it would be complete. So, onwards. As my teacher @bethanyalyons says, don’t suffer the past.

Filling the day with yoga, NYC, coffee with my mom, pasta and wine with my best bud later. Some of the best parts of the fabric of this life that I’ve created, somehow. Not the life that I planned on—nobody’s is, I know—but the one I’ve got. And there sure is a lot to love about it.
